Linux vs Others OS

There are more differences, some of them are:

  • Linux is free to use, but other OS like Windows and macOS need a license, and macOS also requires an Apple device to run.
  • It is open source, which means it is available from the network to install and use without any cost, while other OS, as discussed above, are not open source.
  • It is fully customized, which means you can change everything as you want, such as the desktop, icons, themes, shell, or even the kernel. But other OS (Windows, macOS) are not fully customized, which means they only allow some parts to be customized, like the theme or wallpaper.
  • It is very secure and safe because hackers and viruses cannot easily harm the system. But viruses and hackers can easily damage other OS, such as Windows. In the Apple system, such as macOS, hackers and viruses can harm the system more than Linux but less than Windows, because macOS stops some harm, but not as well as Linux.
  • When you work on Linux, it runs very fast and you feel better than on other OS.
  • Many users use Linux for tasks such as setting up servers, programming, hacking, and even running supercomputers. In comparison, they mostly use Windows for gaming and office work, while they use macOS for design, music, and video editing.
  • Linux OS gives users control over the system and updates with new features, which builds trust and loyalty, while other OS cannot provide the same features as Linux.
